Teej festival was celebrated at Government College Ajnala with the aim of preserving Punjabi folk heritage and cultural traditions and connecting the younger generation with their cultural roots. This event was organized by the Youth Welfare Department under the leadership of the Principal of the college, Dr. Harinder Singh Gill.
The college students participated enthusiastically in the event and presented various glimpses of Punjabi folk culture. The students presented Bolis, Tapas and Giddha. Along with this, modeling depicting traditional Punjabi costumes was also organized. The traditional costumes and cultural program presented by the students attracted the attention of the audience.
On this occasion, the college also invited students and teachers of various schools. Government Senior Secondary School, Ajnala also actively participated in the Teej event. An exhibition of ornaments related to Punjabi culture and traditional life was also organized at the college, in which traditional items and ornaments of Punjabi folk life were displayed.
The event began with the college principal Dr. Harinder Singh gill being welcomed by all staff members with a bouquet of flowers. After this, Principal Dr. Harinder Singh Gill gave information about the history of the festival of Teej and its importance in Punjabi culture. He said that the folk festivals of Punjab are an important part of our cultural identity and by celebrating them, the younger generation can be connected to our rich heritage.
During the event, the students presented the rich folk heritage of Punjab through Punjabi folk songs, dialects, tapas and gidha. The exhibition of traditional costumes and ornaments also made the event special from a cultural point of view. The guests and teachers present on this occasion appreciated the performances of the students.
